Compassion in the Workplace
Why is it important to show compassion in the workplace? Regardless of the workplace environment, we should always show compassion to our teammates, clients and customers. There is an opportunity every day in all that we do to show others that we do care. A few ways to do this are:
Respect others time, thoughts and opinions. While we may not agree with something they say we must always show the respect and hear them out.
As the saying goes, We never know what kind of battles someone has going on in their lives and a little bit of kindness goes a long ways. A simple How are you or a smile can lift up someone’s spirits when they least expect it.
Show that we care
How do we show we care? Asking them how their day is going, asking if we can help in someway are just a few examples.
When we encourage others it starts a positive chain of reaction. It helps with motivating the other person and keeping it positive.
Be considerate with words and actions.
Listen with empathy and respect. Don’t let thoughts get away or think about all the things that have to get done. The person that is speaking to you is trusting you to listen.
Be positive in all that you do, it is a reflection of who you are, the company you work for and the team you are apart of. Positivity is contagious, spread it around like confetti.
We should all challenge ourselves on a daily basis to be more compassionate and caring towards others.
